We have been involved in a very wide range of research relating to manufacturing planning. We have particularly worked on the modelling of planning and control systems using simulation. More recently our work has involved the use of optimisation techniques such as Genetic Algorithms and Simulated Annealing to generate "optimal" plans that either minimise a cost function, or satisfy specified service levels. We have also been involved in a range of implementation projects, which have involved helping companies with their planning and control. There is currently funding available to help companies with industrially based projects.
