Photo 1 Welcome

I am interested in understanding how the nervous system process information in order to control movement.

With the aim of getting a further understanding of the neural circuits responsible for motor function I have recently joined the Institute of Neuroscience at Newcastle University where I work in the Movement Laboratory leaded by Prof. Stuart Baker.

Previously I worked at the Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience Freiburg (BCCN) where I was involved with the Brain Machine Interface Initiative (BMII) leaded by Dr. Carsten Mehring. At BCCN my research was focused in developing an MEG-based BMI for online decoding of hand movement directions to investigate how the information responsible for controlling hand movements is represented in the sensorimotor cortex at the macroscopic scale.

During my PhD I was at IDIAP Research Institute where I worked in the BCI lab of Prof. José del R. Millán and at the University of Barcelona where I was mentored by Prof. Joan Guàrdia and Dr. Francesc Oliva. My PhD mainly contributed to the development of the MAIA Project , an EU project aimed at developing an asynchronous and non-invasive EEG-based brain-actuated wheelchair.
