My Name is Ian, you may have come here from my web page or found it by a search, either way I bid you WELCOME. You may or may not know already that I Live in the UK and have recently taken up the true path.
I was brought up as a child in the methodist church and to believe in God, but left the fold so to speak, when I was about 15. Since then I had no interest in religion or spirituality, as I believed there was no need and that religion caused more conflicts than any other reason.
As I aged, and especially in the last few years, I felt that there was a need for some form of belief, some form of spirituality. I had often seen Dream Catchers in shops here in UK and looked them up on the internet. This was the seed as I was taken by the reasoning of the Dream Catcher, which in UK is no more than a pleasing ornament. I then read Dee Brown's book 'Bury my Heart at Wounded Knee' and found it touched just about every emotion a man can have. From that moment on I knew that I had found my true spirit. One that fits my personality, as I was once called a country bumpkin by my mother. I hate brick, I love the open space, to feel the wind on my face, and to see the wonders of nature.
My mentor, Squis-unt-tani (Sunflower), a descendent of Chief Joseph of the Nez Perc, helped guide me, helped me to train my thoughts, explained the meaning of totems. It must have worked, who would have thought that a Brit would cut a branch from a willow tree to make a dream catcher and hang a feather from the tree as a gift for allowing me take the branch. The strange thing is that I felt better inside!
