There are 329 views (magnifications) of 155 different histology sections included which support many areas of the dissection by showing some structures close-up or vs and/or ts sections of cells, organs and tissues, such as rat coat hairs, skin, tounge, lining of the intestine, reproductive organs, glands, muscle, bone, blood, nerve and brain, etc.

The lowest magnification of each histology section appears on the computer screen. Histology images on the computer screen are not annotated as this would be outside the scope of this program. Anyone can add annotations using the built-in authoring environment.

Figure 1. The first level of magnification for each histology section is shown on the computer screen.

Where more than one magnification of any section is available, they are shown on the video screen when the learner moves the mouse pointer over the relavant part of the computer screen. Fifty-eight sections are available at only one level of magnification, 73 at 2 levels, 35 at three levels and 5 at four levels of magnification. Some histology sections are tissues from mammals other than the rat.

Figure 2. Increasing magnifications (of a section of the cochlea (ear)) which are shown on the video screen as the learner moves their pointer around the computer screen.

THIS IS NOT A HISTOLOGY PROGRAM. There are good histology programs available! Histology sections are only included in this program to support the learner of mammalian dissection.
