Information (in the form of pointing
out the area of structures in an image and textual information) appears in
response to a keyword entry after clicking on the 'Information' tool.
First a 'pointer hand' appears on the image and identifies the area of the image, then textual information appears (if any has been defined). This text is hypertext, and if a learner clicks on a word followed by an asterisk, futher textual information appears. If the learner's keyword entry was ambiguous or mispelled, the program attempts to match the entry with one in it's database. If more than one match to the keyword entry is found, the pointer hand illustrates all of the corresponding areas on the current image, and presents all of the text relating to the input.
The hypertext text may be added by anyone with Editor access to the program. New text is automatically cross-referenced with existing text.
Figure 1. After clicking on the Information tool a dialog box appears prompting for a keyword. A hand points out the area of the stucture requested, and if any text is available it appears in the top of the screen. If a learner clicks on a * marked word, more text information appears.
