Unix Application Servers.

These application servers were in the central Computer Room and
each one served a group of Unix workstations in a cluster room where users were working.
The unix workstation had the unix operating system but no applications or student files.
Not all buildings had a cluster room and no building had two cluster rooms.
The distribution of cluster rooms was such that every student anywhere was close to a cluster.
There were even cluster rooms in halls of residence a few miles from the campus.

The lake HP machines were in the Bedson Building which housed Chemistry, Surveying
and the DCSE part of Computing Science.

cragsted served SUN unix workstation on the Old Library User Area.

The burn HP machines were in the Daysh Building cluster.
The floss cluster was in the Stephenson Building.
pike was HP Unix machines in the Old Library User Area
dene was in the Cookson Building
housing the Medical School
in the Royal Victoria Infirmary University Hospital.

glen machines were in the Herschel Building that housed Physics.

The mere cluster was in Merz Court building
home to Electrical Engineering and Mathematics.
The pass cluster was in the King George VI building that housed Agriculture.
The scar machines were in Building Science building.
