lingmell was a fileserver for Computing Service staff machines.

ucsfs1 (University Computing Service File Server 1)
held eata directories for 1125 users on 14GByte disk space.
eata was a timesharing machine.
(Eata was a bishop of Lindisfarne from 678 until 685.)

ucsfs2 held tuda directories for 1073 users on 10GBytes disk space.
(Tuda was a bishop of Lindisfarne for less than a year in 664.)

ucsfs3 held cragsted directories for 340 users on 10GBytes disk space.

The townend network attached file server marketed by Auspex Inc
held 6273 directories on 32GBytes of disk storage.

ucsarc1 was the opposite of a file server it was an archive server.
Users who had files they did not need access to in the near future could archive them using this service.
Restore requests could expect to complete by next day. (Users had quite limited disk space allocation in 1994.)
