Roger Broughton's Home Page

Last update 7th February 2013.

A mixed bag of things crudely put together, feedback welcomed.

This link comes first because a couple of dozen people access it weekly Regent Bridge Club scores and I don't want them to have to churn through the rest to find how they have done.
There is information about the club Here.

This website is created by Roger Broughton using simple text editors like MicroSoft NOTEPAD and the UNIX Visual editor VI.

It should download quickly even over a slow dial-up connection.
Where there are pictures the idea is to show a thumbnail (30KByte),
which when clicked on will download a normal size picture (100KByte),
which when clicked on will download the fullsize picture (1MByte).

I think the most valuable part of this website is A Virtual Museum of Computing Artefacts is under construction here.
It is really about mainframe computers but does refer to more modern computers for comparisons.

The mainframe computers were:

  • 1957-1969 12yrs Ferranti Pegasus.
  • 1961-1969 8yrs English Electric KDF9.
  • 1967-1980 13yrs IBM 360 Model 67.
  • 1975-1986 11yrs IBM 370 Model 168.
  • 1985-1992 7yrs Amdahl 5860.

Here are some old photos of mine that include photographs of the mainframe computers and old ones of Rod Walker's leaving do taken by Terry Betteridge on 27th September 1985.

My recollections of visiting him are HERE.
