Tuesday, an early start

These are the ground water heat source manifolds, the one at the rear is buried just one metre down,
and is the flow from the heat pump in the house, whilst the other is buried at one and a half metres,
and is the return flow. Each has two stubs to which pipes are connected. Picture

This is the beginning of the trench, you can get an idea of the depth by the spade.
The water is a good sign, we want it wet.

Whilst elsewhere lorry loads of hardcore have been delivered and Kevin is busy spreading it in the garage
around and within the house foundations.

Picture
Notice the mountains of soil and clay. At times they were moving mounds to make way for another mound.

It all needs tamping down to make a good base.

This is me and Gary connecting the pipes to the manifolds, they were simple press fit connectors.

Picture

Before backfilling the pair of pipes had to be positioned each side of the trench.

Picture

Then backfilled 500mm, and the second pair positioned each side, and finally backfilled,

making sure to press down with the bucket to obtain good soil contact with pipework.
