Building begins - 6th February 2006

"Thought for the Day" drove me out of bed as usual
and looking out of the window I saw John already on-site
having opened the garage log pack. He wanted to get ahead of Tony.

So as on friday the delivery driver caught us still in bed,
so today John starts work before we are up. Well Margie is 60 and
I am 65, and we have both retired, so on these cold dark winter mornings
there is not much incentive to get up before daylight.

Tony

This is Tony chamfering the ends of the pegs, more about them later.

John

This is John applying the self adhesive strips of rubber,
more about them later.

11 courses

This is the garage at the end of the first day, 11 courses of logs.

End Day 1

This is the photograph at end of day 1 from the standard position
Margie's bedroom window.

The weather was good, dry, bit of wintery sunshine.
Felt cold in the NW wind. A good start.

An interesting aside. John was working up in Wester Ross
at a place called Shieldaig erecting an Artichouse for Bruce and Thelma.
Thelma used to live in Brookside West, next door to Brookside East
where Marge and I are building our Artichouse in the garden.
She says they will look in next time they are down.
