About the Wood

Garage

Yesterday, Friday, they did not seem to do much, just the facia on the roof.
It does mean that the roofing contractor can tile the roof.

There is still work to do on the garage below the roof. Because there is so little here
I will add something about the wood.

7th view

Here is a bit of English conifer wood. It is about 720mm diameter.
There are 48 growth rings, so that is an average of 15mm per ring.

Here is a section of a log of our new house. From the centre of the log
to the tip of the tongue at the top left is 93mm, there are 155 growth rings
in that distance, that is 0.6mm average per ring, 25 times the density of English wood.

The Artichouse log factory is 200 kilometers above the Artic Circle.
The wood in that region grows very slowly. It has normally been growing for 200 years before being cut.
