Two Day's Worth.

Too busy on Tuesday evening to update the blog because was ordering the metal guttering
which we wanted delivered before the scaffolding was removed.

Our role is Project Manager, which sounds very grand but is a dog's body role.
What ever they want you get. 378 meters of 600 mm wide 100 mm thick insulation they want yesterday, you get.
Two rolls of duct tape, 1Kg 50mm galvanised nails and 2Kg 3" round nails, you get.
One Earl Grey tea, no sugar or milk, another ordinary tea, two sugars and milk, you get.

Plus, you have to pay for everything. And you get no thanks.

The only consolation is that you are getting a Rolls Royce of a house.

Kimmo & Co. were busy on the roof making the apertures for the Velux windows.
At about 2pm the insulation arrived, five pallet loads on an enourmouse articulated wagon.
Fortunately on the rear of the wagon was this three wheeled fork lift vehicle.
The driver sat on it, started the motor, raised the forks (lowered the vehicle),
then raced about delivering the pallets of insulation. Within minutes, delivery done,
albeit one and a bit pallets short, but they'll come later. Sheffield Insulation is OK>

At the end of Tuesday, this was the situation. Apertures for Velux windows and metal
bracing straps in place but not fixed.
Do not know what that splash of light is, but the flash had to be operated at 6pm.
But you can see Matti still working up there.

Wednesday, they fixed the vertical black boards down each side, then after lunch, it being dry,
they started on the insulation. Two 100mm layers are inserted between the 200mm rafters.
In the morning they also tensioned the roof diagonal bracing straps and nailed them to each rafter.

Having inserted insulation the length of the roof, it needed covering in case it rained.
It is covered with a waterproof breathable membrane made by DUPONT.Tyvek Supro Good stuff.
Apparently it is used to make the one piece overalls worn by police when collecting forensic evidence.
To begin with it is simply stapled down ...

... but pretty soon needs fixing better in case a wind gets up. So short counter battens are nailed down.

In the meantime, whilst Tony and Kimmo were jossing along above, Matti was working below
filling every little crevice with insulation. There is not a finger gap in the insulation.
