A rude awakening

At 7:45am there was someone ringing the door bell! The delivery of the missing insulation.
I helped the unloading in my dressing gown and wellies, fortunately no one had a camera.

They started on building the North gable end.

It consists of the 150mm timber frame wood, then a layer of fibrous building Board,
the joins of which are taped to prevent draughts. Battons are then nailed through the board to the timber frame.
Later tongued and grooved boards will be nailed to the battons.
Later again, the 150mm space will be filled with insulation, then a vapour-proof membrane,
25mm battons to create a space for electrical cabling and finally plaster board.

View from the inside. The left hand window is a bedroom window and on the right the bathroom.

The view from the road. All that insulation goes between the 200mm rafters, five pallet loads.
It looks pretty much as expected from the road.
We have to make a proper entrance. Ordered the remotely operated gate on a rail today.

The Finn's lunch today was:
Home made mushroom soup and a toasted slice of home made bread.
Sirlion steak, jacket potatos, roast parsnip, carrots, runner beans and onion gravy.
La Rectorie red wine from Cotes du Rhone Villages 2004.
Apple pie and ice cream, coffee and tea.

I try to get them back at work in half an hour, but today it was 50 minutes.
