More rubbish

Did not update the blog yesterday, Sunday 19th March, we went for a walk near Hexham with friends,
then had a meal there and a game of contract bridge. I lost, Margie won :-(

Almost every day I make a run to the council rubbish dump, the estate is chock-a-block full.
Note the sunshine, didn't last for long.

Basically the roof is watertight, Tyvek membrane eave to eave. Roof partially insulated.
It is beginning to dry out inside, Margie will be pleased.

Today they finished off fixing the counter battens, ready for the roofer to fix the tile battens,
and tile the roof. Bit more work to do before that though.

I am concerned about the the wood burning stove flue. I want the support for it to be in place
before the roof space is closed off underneath and tiled above.
So I get the bits and pieces and see how it might fit in the roof, not there but up near the ridge
above my head. They do not seem to be concerned about the flue, just the house.

At 4.45pm they started on cladding the North gable end. A bent metal strip is fixed above the logs
then the wood cladding is fixed over that.

At 6:15 they are still working to 1mm precision accuracy.

What do they cost?
Quite a few EUROs per week - plus board and lodging (they are currently here in are living room watching TV football),
plus hot drinks every two hours, plus their air fares. They sort themselves breakfast, (they get up too early for us),
and their evening meal, we lay on a three course meal at 1pm.
(So much so that today they came in at 1pm wanting their meal, I was 1 minute late in calling them.)

They work 10 hours per day, 7 days a week, that is 70 hours per week,
almost in all weathers.

Then you have to look at the quality of their work. They have been erecting these wood building for many years.
it is Rolls-Royce quality, You are gaining from their years of experience.
