Today is Tuesday and I thought there would not be much to say for a while.

Yesterday John made the eaves return from the left eaves to the right.
Very nicely done too, I thought.
You can see here the gutter support brackets that can be set for different angles.

Whilst he was doing that I was installing insulation in the external walls.
This is a photograph in the late evening when the setting sun is shining through the
three West Velux windows on to the inner East side.
I managed to install 22sq.m, that was five packs of 100mm slabs, and 3 packs of 50mm.
For the first time we were able to actually take part in constructing our house.

Next day We were Lucky. I had asked John Young,, that lad on the right,
to come down and give us a quote for four jobs that needed doing,
and just then there was a delivery of our missing doors,
the lad on the left is the driver of the artic. No way could it get near the new house.
Our doors are that that crate in the middle. At least it is not raining.

Luckily we could telephone Nick Keenlyside half a mile away, and he came at once with his pickup.
They managed to move the crate from the artic to Nick's pickup. John Young is there
steadying the crate.

How to get the crate off the pickup thinks John Young?

So we got a couple of floor joists and four of us eased the crate off the pickup.

Then up and into the garage. It was not easy, Nick and John Young were the main movers.

Here the double doors are safely in the garage and barricaded from the scaffolders
who are coming tomorrow to remove the scaffolding.

Meanwhile, same day, Marge and I are installing insulation.
The outer walls require 150mm insulation. Either 100mm plus 50mm, or three 50mm
depending on what needs filling. Here I am cutting a 100mm slab whilst a 50mm cut is to the right.
Another nice thing was that Malcolm Newton (our architect) & Jason (his assistant),
came to see how things were going. We have paid his fees, but he keeps an eye on us
and I telephone him now and again, to ask about things, and give hime feedback.
