In the front is a window aperture liner removed from the window opening that was made by the Finns.
Tony and John thought they were more trouble than their worth
because they did not fit accurately to the window frame.

Their solution was to plaster the window rebates, and to do this we need battens in the rebates
to fix the plasterboard to such that the plasterboard overlaps the window frame by just 5mm.
If you look closely you will see that the battens in the rebate are parallel to the frame
but are not to the opening. At the bottom is a shim between it and the opening.

And here are shims of different thicknesses, to millimeter accuracy made for the job.
This day we ordered a tonne of sand and tonne of gravel from James Burrell Building Suppliers.
We were told, "Delivered tommorrow, but it's definitely pm."

At 07:45 next day there was a telephone call from the guy who said "It's definitely pm"
to say that a delivery driver was trying to find us. We were still in bed!
I put a dressing gown on, donned wellingtons and scrambled out. There am I in black and red gown.
Marge had the prescence of mind to find the camera and take a photograph from the bedroom window.
The camera chose to focus on the tree buds rather than me.

John and Tony continued shimming battens in window openings.
Bob and Craig continued with the electrical first fix.
I dismantled the window linings and Marge scrubbed the bricks for the stove plinth.
It was a hive of activity, drills, saws, hammers, a lovely cacophony of noise.
Then John and Tony finished the window openings and installed the front door.
First came the frame fixed in the opening by pairs of opposing wedges before screws fixed it in place.
Then the door was hung. It fit fine, but the lock was for an opening outwards door
like they have in Finland,
where as, this door opened inwards. So it just did not fit with the door plates.
Fortunately the the garage door, that opened outwards, had an inward opening lock,
So Tony had the idea to swop the locks, and "Hey Presto", they both fitted fine.
Unfortunately, I was not around to photograph this wonderful solution to a double problem.
(An afterthought is that Kimmo the Finn fitted the wrong lock in the garage door!)

Same day, the tarmackers came and remade the road over the electricity trench.
