Tony and John have gone, no work for them until after the plasterers, so it is just Marge & me
building our home. It is very nice, she and I working together, because we are so different.
She spends money very carefully, but I spend with ease. She gives to charities more than me.
She is on the telephone half of her life, I react with fear at the telephone ringing.
She has a small car with windup windows,
I have a big car with air-conditioning, electric windows, 3litre V6 turbo diesel, ...
Here she is staining the window sills in the gorgeous sunshine today.
Meanwhile I have positioned the stove on the new plinth and here is the flue aligned with the plumb line.
This is where the stove is on the plinth, just 10mm to spare. It must have meant to be!
I will tile the top of the plinth around the feet of the stove to stop it moving.
This is the flue that has to be installed. Stove £700, flue £1000.
This is the flue erected up through the first floor and the first floor ceiling into the attic.
That is where I hit the problem. More about that tomorrow.
