We Moved Home.

Not updated blog for some time now. Been busy, moving home.
Brookside East is sold. We have to move out!

In Brookside East we have been packing books, maps, toys, crockery, ..., ready for the move.

This is the piano going in to The Cottage, Lee of Budget Removals you can see, Kev you cannot at the other end.
They are both big men. Our furniture is heavy, not IKEA quality.

Brookside East is empty on Wednesday, awaiting the carpet cleaners on Thursday,
we have cleaned all the skirting boards and walls where furniture was. In some places it was very thick.

Whereas Brookside Cottage is full to overflowing.
We are moving from a 4 bedroom dwelling to a 2 bedroom dwelling. There is too much to move.
So we are moving about one third to The Cottage, one third into storage, and the last third to the dump.

This is the North face of The Cottage. In this evening light it is bright lit.
The Cottage does not look pretty but inside it is very nice and comfortable.

This is a view of The Cottage from the yard.

In the meantime, John & Tony have been busy installing support for the insulation & underfloor heating pipework.
It consists of 60mm of rigid insulation, then 16mm of pipewok. Then finally the 28mm floorboards.

This is the view of the first floor from underneath.

Now the saga of BT begins.
We asked for our Broadband connection to be moved to The Cottage next door on wednesday.
The telephone line in Brookside East went dead on Wednesday.
Did it become active on Brookside Cottage on Wednesday? No.
Fault reported the problem to 0800 800 151 in the evening using my mobile,
for which calls to that 0800 number are charged! by Orange my mobile service provider.
It took 30 minutes being shunted around the World via various call centres,
and awful wall paper music that stops every 15 seconds, then a blank and beep,
and restarts again, for another 15 seconds, ...
Eventually they manage to lose you, so you start all over again!

Same thing on Thursday, still no telephone/Internet connection.
And these call centres in India/Pakistan are not clever.

Today is Friday, still not fixed. Fault reported first thing at 8am.
They put me on hold whilst they tried to contact someone else,
and three times the fault report was restarted from the beginning!

So at the moment we have no land line or Internet connection.
0191 236 7580 does not work.
Marge's mobile number is 07779 819 104, mine is 07791 341 980,
but the mobile phone signal strength in the Cottage is zero
so we have to perch the mobiles in the window to get a signal.

Copying all this on to a memory stick and going to Newcastle
to access the Internet to update the blog.
It is Saturday, still no landline. Will keep you informed.
