Sunday 11th June 2006, a day off and drive to West Woodburn for a short walk.
On the way we visited a 400 year old bastle.

nearby was the home and studio of the artist Mary Ann Rogers.
We bought a print of one of her works, Guinea Fowl and Daffodils, as a wedding present.
You can see more of her work at www.marogers.co.uk.
monday 12th june 2006. Weather absolutely glorious. In fact a bit too hot.

Margie has been treating the wood of the garage, and here you can see half of one side done.
Although a light stain it does darken the wood which we think is no bad thing.
Unstained it is a bit in your face.

Unix has taken well to the move to the Cottage and spends more time lying outside,
either in the yard or , as here, the driveway.

I took a day off from treating the wood,
and tidied up the surplus wood taking two car loads to the recycling depot.
We can now get a car down the side of the house.

The bit of the garden we have saved is really blooming
the blue ceonothus a stunning sight.

Just to keep up to date, this is one of the standard views taken from the same spot.

And this is the other standard view vantage point.

I made a housing for the external stand pipe.
Tuesday 13th June 2006, a significant day.

The plasterers arrive. We have been waiting for this day.
Billy, Alan, and Ken are soon hard at work, and it is hard work.

I am back on wood treatment duty. It has to be spread so thin that it is hard work.

Mid-morning a delivery. Carl, the fourth member of the plaster team, is around to help.
That is another 72 8ft x 4ft plaster boards and about 50 bags of Board Finish Plaster.

Meanwhile Margie is treating the end wall of the garage. This is the last side to be done.

The plasterers are finished for the day. they have boarded two & a half rooms.
You will notice that they have fixed the plaster boards 30mm above the floor joists.
That is to give room for the people laying the floor boards to move and fit the floor boards.
What a mess they leave. They will lift these temporary floor boards and move them downstairs,
and in so doing will drop all this debris to below the ground floor,
I cannot bear the thought of it. They need a full time cleaner working with them.
So Margie & I move in after them and clean it all up.
Tomorrow is another day, another mess, but progress.
We have to think about bathroom fittings, kitchen cabinets, wet-room construction.
Today, after a stint of wood treatment, we went to ABS Home Improvements and arranged for someone
to come and quote us for a wet-room.
