Not Much change to see.

20th june 2006. Things are happening but not much to see.

So here is a picture of a European Eagle Owl from Kielder Water Bird of Prey Centre.
It was on display at the opening of the Weetslade Colliery Country Park,
just 20 minutes down the Coast to Coast cycle route that passes our back gate.

The most noticeable change from the street is the colour.
We are going to get a tower scaffold to do the highest bits.

This is Bob Mitchell, boss of Gosforth Plasterers Ltd.
He had to come and skivvy for the plasterers, Ken and Alan, busy inside, because a labourer failed to turn up.

And this is Claire, who is staying for a few days.
If you come here you get a brush put in your hand!
You are welcome too, we'll put up anybody.

Margie is working away down below ...

... whilst I am up above. We only do about 2-3 hours at a stretch, it is blooming hard work.

The first room completely plastered, that is walls ceilings and openings.
They don't plaster a room complete then go to the next room, but plaster say, wall-ceiling-wall
then go plaster some bits in another room, whilst what they have just done sets and dries a bit.
So there is quite a bit of plaster up elsewhere, but this is the first complete room.
It is lovely to feel, completely smooth and flat. It will dry white.

They reckon to finish upstairs this week, then there is a week pebble dashing somewhere else,
then the following week they hope to plaster the downstairs.
So I have been busy on the telephone to arrange the chippys to return on the 10th July
to install the wood cladding below the dado rail, and the sparks to return at same time to do their 2nd fix.

Also I have ordered the insulation, kingspan TP10 25mm thick insulation to be delivered on Thursday
and the underfloor heating pipe to be delivered on Friday
so that we can fit it upstairs whilst the plasterers are busy downstairs
so that when the chippys return they can not just install the wall cladding,
but also start fixing floor boards upstairs.

Must remember to order the 60mm Kingspan insulation for the downstairs
when we have laid the 25mm insulation upstairs.
So that we can install the insulation and underfloor heating pipework downstairs, whilst they are working upstairs.
A problem with ordering materials is where to put them when they arrive.

Just had a thought, I have not ordered the Lytag that is put in the space between the Kingspan insulation
that the underfloor heating pipes are fixed to upstairs,
and the floor boards to transfer the heat from the pipes to the boards and so too us.
We might use PUG downstairs, that is a dry mixture of sand and cement that is cheaper,
but more efficient, but much heavier.

All of this activity is Project Management. I do quite like it.
It is a bit like playing chess, if that then what. Or a crossword, this has to fit with that and that and that ...
