The burn meanders its way 1.5 kilometers across farmland with no crossing shown on
on the Ordnance Survey map till it has to go under the A696.
The bridge is a modern reinforced concrete arch, the A696 was opened in 1988.
The construction is a corrugated iron tunnel covered by steel reinforced concrete.
The corrugated iron sheeting might rust away, but the reinforced concrete will remain.
These bridges MUST NOT FAIL!
On this journey down the Ouse Burn you will see a brown/black/white dog,
it is Bobby, a Welsh collie sheep dog. It is my dog who needs lots of exercise
hence the journey down the Ouseburn to give Bobby walks and me interest.

The A696 is the connection from Newcastle to its airport, Ponteland and beyond.
It is a busy road, not one you like to cross on foot.
The Ouse Burn goes under the road between the two big traffic signs on the right,
best seen in FULLSIZE by the roadside crash barrier.

It exits with two drains adding to its flow when it is raining.
