| Many people helped to put names to faces, including: Denis Russell, Dick Snow, Lindsay Marshall, and Elizabeth Barraclough, but Terry Betteridge with his phenominal memory contributed the most. His comments on p27 cannot be improved so I have added them after the photograph. | BACK | STOP | NEXT |
p27 we should be able to squeeze some more juice from this picture, particularly the high resolution version.
Row by row, starting with the back row, from left to right of the picture. I don't know any of the first three gentlemen at the back, in front of the venetian blinds at the window. But then comes Les Mitchell with his head against the zigzag curtains.
Next row forward, Nick and Anna Rossiter nearest the camera (tops of their heads only), then Hazel Mitrani (caught with her eyes closed) and Isi (caught in mid yawn, sorry about that Isi), then the young lady with Joan (my guess is she's called Moira, could easily be wrong though), then Joan Atkinson, Tom Anderson, then my wife Mary (black dress), Maria Coleman, Mrs Craig (I'm sorry I don't know her first name) and Jeff Craig. I can't make out who's directly after Jeff but then it's Mike Wardley, Joyce Stone, then a blonde woman I don't know, then I can see John Clowes and then I think I can just see John's wife Greta Clowes right at the end.
I don't know who the chap is, standing up with the short shirtsleeves. But that does look rather like Gill Lynch lurking behind the projector trolley though I can't be sure about that.
Next row forward, Eric Watson, Pete Whillance, Ron Kerr, then Geoff Shearing and Geoff's wife (I'm sorry I can't remember her name either, ask Geoff if you like?)[Lillian - REB], then Brian Jones and Sandra Jones. Then Peta and Terry Ratcliffe, then I can see Keith Heron but it's hard to make out or recognise any more in that row. Except maybe Margaret Hindmarsh, then the chap with sideburns and glasses (directly behind Margaret Eve from the camera's point of view) could be Mike Brudenell? but I'm not 100% confident about him, and then probably that's Chris Petrie (behind Elsa Whitfield).
Then in the front row, after two empty chairs comes Benedict Heal, Peter Hitchcock who's leaning right back so as not to be obscured, then Margaret and Jim Eve, then a woman I don't recognise and can't see, then finally just before the right hand edge of the picture, Harry and Elsa Whitfield.
