Gas Welding

• The weld pool is protected by the products of combustion from the flame

• The torch is known as a blowpipe and can be used to adjust the oxygen/acetylene ratio in the flame

  • For general work a neutral flame is used

• The flame temperature may be ~3000K (cf 򘵐K for an arc)
