S.J. Hannahs:
Research
My research centres primarily on phonological structure and the
relationship between phonology and morphology. In exploring these relationships
I've looked mostly at French and Welsh, though I have interests in Celtic, Romance
and Germanic linguistics more generally. I've also done a bit on Austronesian,
in the form of Malagasy reduplication.
Other interests include language acquisition, bilingualism and language contact
(probably provoked by my previous incarnations as a conference interpreter and
technical translator, English/German/French). Recently I've been more interested
in the grammatical effects of language contact.
Current on-going research focuses on the phonology and phonological structure
of Welsh, along with morphophonological alternations.
