The 3Rs Cancer Research Lab welcomes motivated students and researchers interested in translational cancer research, organoid biology, and human relevant preclinical models. Our work focuses on understanding prostate cancer biology and therapy resistance using advanced human systems that improve translational relevance and support responsible research practices.
We are particularly interested in candidates with backgrounds in stem cell biology, cancer biology, molecular biology, bioengineering, bioinformatics, or related disciplines. The research programme combines organoid model development, genome engineering, advanced imaging, and transcriptomic approaches to address clinically relevant questions in prostate cancer.
The lab provides a supportive and collaborative research environment, with opportunities for interdisciplinary training and close interaction with academic, clinical, and industry partners. We are committed to inclusive research practices and to the professional development of early career researchers.
PhD and MSc opportunities
Prospective PhD and MSc students are encouraged to get in touch to discuss potential projects, supervision, and funding routes. We regularly support applications to UK and international doctoral training schemes aligned with cancer research and NC3Rs priorities.
Summer students and short term projects
The lab is occasionally able to host undergraduate and MSc students for summer research projects, subject to capacity and funding availability. These short term placements offer hands on experience in organoid culture, cancer biology, and translational research.
Students interested in summer or short term research projects are welcome to contact the lab to discuss potential opportunities.
International applicants
International students are warmly encouraged to contact the lab to discuss potential PhD and MSc opportunities. We have experience supporting internationally competitive applications and working within cross institutional and international supervisory teams.
Prospective international applicants are encouraged to explore the wider doctoral landscape and to get in touch early to discuss project fit and eligibility.
