'If you liked the first game then you are bound to enjoy the sequel'

Yes you've guessed it. He's back...After a phone call from Nico about an ancient Mayan artefact that she has discovered our hero George Stobbart heads off to Professor Oubier's mansion to meet the lovely Nico and get the low down on the stone. If only life were that simple! There's no sign of the Professor, Nico then gets kidnapped and then George regains conciousness to find himself tied to a chair with the room ablaze and a poisonous spider about to sink its fangs into his skin. Welcome to Broken Sword 2 - The smoking mirror. Wherever he seems to go, trouble just seems to follow him. But now he's a man on a mission and he won't rest until he finds his girl.

As with the first game we follow our hero around the world solving puzzles, wisecracking and searching for clues as to where his beloved Nico is and what is the mystery behind the Mayan stone. Although the same type of game there have been a few ugrades given to the sequel including:-

* Decreased loading times between screens
* Improvement in the translucency levels
* The ability to control Nico is certain parts
* Faster Gameplay
* More Puzzles

The only main stumbling block in this game is that as with the first Broken Sword the game is so linear that once it is complete you may as well get what you can for it on a trade-in, as you'll probably never go back to it.

As with the original Broken Sword the cartoon style graphics have been used but Revolution now boast a greater translucency level (ie. the ability to see the characters through smoke,glass etc.) and Geometric Sprite Transformation (ie. as the character walks further into the distance he still retains crisp facial details etc. as the sprite gets smaller). I didn't particularly notice any of this while playing, but never the less it still looks nice.

Another good music score no doubt composed once again by Barrington Pheloung and his orchestra. George and co. still retain their vocal sense of humour.

If you liked the first game then you are bound to enjoy the sequel . Personally I also found Broken Sword 2 to be a little short and was disappointed at the climax. Still though I'm glad I played it and lived through the adventures of George and Nico
