ACE2006: Agricultural Economics
Examination Questions:
You are asked to answer TWO of the following questions - you
will have two hours under University closed book examination rules and
conditions.
1. Explain the 2007/8 food price 'crisis' and comment on its implications for the future.
2. Outline the major features of the development of the CAP and discuss the problems of further reform.
3. Is British Agriculture competitive?
4. Explain gains from trade and the implications for trade negotiations.
5. Explain the extent to which market failures cause sustainability problems.
6. Is the price of land critical for UK farming? Why or why not?
NOTE: You are expected
to construct coherent and comprehensive answers to these questions,
which display more than simply a rehearsal of the notes. In particular,
you are expected to explain
your arguments, develop a credible 'story', and deliver rounded and
thoughtful answers to the questions you select. Assessment will be made
according to these expectations, which will require some evidence of
thought and care - be warned!
