Thesis Abstract: Feedforward control is one of the most common industrially applied sophistication to improve the performance of standard feedback control systems such as PID control; but to effectively anticipate the effect a disturbance has on a controlled variables we must be able to measure the disturbance variable. In some processes it may be difficult to measure disturbances and this situation will prevent the utilisation of feedforward control strategy. To overcome this problem, multivariable inferential feedforward control strategy is proposed. The design, implementation and analysis of this strategy to a simulated methanol-water distillation column are presented and its performance are compared to the conventional feedback control.
