There is a restricted public ftp service at Newcastle, called ftp.ncl.ac.uk. This enables researchers (for example) to make files available to colleagues all over the world; it is especially useful for those who have many files which need to be made available over a period of time.
Strict control is exercised over this service: to make use of it you should first contact the ISS Helpline (Helpline@ncl.ac.uk) and ask to be passed to the Unix administrators.
