The FlexNARA<\/strong><\/a> (F<\/span>luid-flex<\/span>ible structure iN<\/span>terA<\/span>ction R<\/span>eseA<\/span>rch) team, led by Dr Narakorn Srinil<\/strong><\/a> at the School of Engineering, Newcastle University, focuses on advancing fundamental and multidisciplinary research in fluid-structure interactions. Our work centres on developing cost-effective predictive models, in-house analytical tools and experimental frameworks to support the offshore, ocean and marine energy\u00a0sector including renewables, nature-inspired technologies, oil & gas, and subsea flow transportation systems.<\/p>\n

We investigate the impacts of vortex-induced vibrations (VIV), ocean currents, waves and wind loads on offshore, underwater and subsea infrastructures, aiming to improve their operational reliability, safety and performance. A key objective of our research is to bridge critical knowledge gaps and facilitate the transfer of fundamental theories into practical applications across industry sectors of national and international importance.<\/p>\n

Our research spans offshore, subsea and renewable engineering applications, contributing to the net-zero decarbonisation, environmental sustainability and global energy transition.<\/p>\n
