How can we use aluminium engine blocks?

• Depends on duty required

• Options include

  • chrome plated piston in untreated aluminium alloy bore (low duty, die cast block, LM2 or LM25)
  • chrome plated bore (or liner) on untreated piston
  • use a cast iron or steel liner in an Al block (LM9) for high duty service
  • Use a heat-treatable Al liner (LM30) in a cast eutectic alloy block
