Mechanical Properties
Strength - usually as good as or better than parent metal unless excessive grain growth
Ductility/fracture strength - often reduced by welding (defects, martensite, grain growth, strain-age embrittlement due to nitrogen)
Creep - short term performance of welds at elevated temperature similar to wrought materials
Fatigue strength -reduced by welding since weld profile acts as a stress concentrator
