On the rights of man and citizenrightsofmanjpg.jpg

During the French Revolution, the National Assembly of France declared the “Rights of Man and Citizen” on 26th August 1789. The original document contains 17 statutes that outline all the rights that the citizens gained during the Revolution. It sums up well how people in the Enlightenment felt about the rights of the individual.

On the left you can find seven of the original statutes included in the declaration. On the right, the statutes are summarised in "modern" English. Can you match which statement on the right goes with which statute on the left?
