Simple Past Tense - 1


When do we use this tense?


The simple past tense is one of the most common tenses in English. Generally, it expresses an action which took place in the past. Also, there are other uses for this tense.


1. To talk about a completed action that took place at a definite time in the past.
I lived with my friends Adam and Sami in a big and old flat.

 

2. To refer to several actions that happened one after another in the past.
A year later I got married, started to work and bought my own house.


3. To describe past habits.
We never went to school, and we always skipped classes.



Simple Past Adverbials:
Yesterday, yesterday morning, the day before yesterday, three days ago, a week ago, a month ago.
