Pronunciation of – ED endings

  • /d/ when the sound before this suffix is voiced (called-loved- died)
    Examples of voiced sounds /l/, /n/, /v/,/b/ and the vowels

  • /t/ when the sound before this suffix is voiceless (talked – watched – stopped)
    Examples of voiceless sounds /k/, /p/,/s/,/sh/, /ch/

  • /Id/ when the verb ends in “t” or “d” (waited- needed)
