Research focuses on creating sustainable solutions for energy, healthcare, and wearable applications. He is reimagining wearable technology through innovation in materials design and fabrication. This involves designing processes to develop novel materials that are electroactive. The main focus is on the development of MXenes, a family of two-dimensional nanoscale materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">His work has led to the discovery of a new generation of smart wearable devices that track the wearer\u2019s health and physical activities. He has developed new biosensors that detect various biomarkers. These provide real-time health monitoring and help manage diseases. The goal is to improve the quality of life by advancing the state of the art in health monitoring, diagnostics, and technology integration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">His work has also made pioneering advances in the development of novel electrode materials. These electrode materials are processed into green, safe, and high-performance energy storage systems. The goal is to meet the growing global energy needs and reduce the environmental impacts of fossil fuel use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Research has three key themes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Engineering smart materials across scales<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Integrating functions through advanced manufacturing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Enabling human interconnectivity through digital data<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Dr Seyedin has been recognised amongst the Top 2% Scientists Worldwide in 2023 and 2024 by Elsevier. Research has been published in &gt;60 journal articles and book chapters including 6 Highly Cited Papers (Web of Science). His research has featured in &gt;100 media outlets (e.g., CNBC News, Newsweek, and Yahoo! News). Media releases and outreach activities have raised public awareness of wearable systems. Current funded projects include an EPSRC grant (PI). He has successfully completed &gt;15 funded research and industry consultancy projects (&gt;\u00a31.2M). His current research team is composed of 8 PhD candidates, 2 research associates, and 2 visiting academics. Topics include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Integrating novel materials into smart fibres for wearable applications<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Wearable electrode fibres based on novel materials<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Smart textiles for wearable health monitoring<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Soft biosensors for non-invasive health monitoring<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">High energy density supercapacitors using novel electrode materials<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Nanoscale materials for autonomous devices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Flexible electronics and electronic skins<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Dr Seyedin is a Fellow of Advance HE (FHEA). Teaching includes Advanced Materials for Energy Applications (Module Leader), Transfer Processes, and Plant Design.
