Laurence Scott, the director of this show, wanted to set this production in the 1920s, alluding to silent films (eerily predicting many of the tropes used in the acclaimed professional production by Opera North in 2009). I took this a bit further, making the whole poster like frames from an old movie. When printed, there was a white border all around, which detracted from the effect, however. But now that colour printing was everywhere, the greyness of this stood out pretty well!
