XIPHOS I: a custom built bespoke diffractometer for the study of crystalline samples at ultra low temperatures. The system couples a Huber 4-circle goniometer with a Bruker TXS Mo rotating anode X-ray source and an APEX II CCD detector. Cooling to a base temperature of 1.86 K is achieved through a modified 3 stage APD 202E closed cycle cryocooler. https://doi.org/10.1107/S0021889810041282

XIPHOS II: another custom built instrument specialising in the measurement of single crystal samples at very high pressures, provided through the use of diamond anvil cells. The system couples a 4 circle Huber goniometer, a Ag microfocus X-ray source and an APEXII CCD detector.

An Oxford Diffraction (now Rigaku Oxford Diffraction) Gemini Ultra with Cu and Mo sealed tube X-ray sources. This system operates with an Oxford Cryosystems Cryostream 700 to maintain temperatures in the 400-90 K range. This is the departmental workhorse for service crystallographic studies.
