Management and Training

Management, Training and Technology Transfer:

The Research Assistant will assume responsibility for day-to-day project organization, under supervision from the PI's, with weekly project update/strategy meetings. The Research Assistant will also liaise directly with IOM-Anna staff and the inter-institute collaboration will facilitate a two-way flow of expertise. IOM staff will lead the optimization of sampling, in consultation with the Research Assistant and Principal Investigators, drawing on detailed IOM knowledge of the field sites and through interpretation of existing data. This expertise will enable an informed response in the event of changing circumstances and is therefore critical both to the relevance and successful execution of the field programme. IOM-Anna will provide the Research Assistant with a full training in unique aspects of tropical mangrove sampling and will themselves receive advanced training in state-of-the-art analysis, during short study visits to Newcastle (including GC and stable-isotope analysis) and during fieldwork (GC analysis). Hence there will be a significant exchange of technological and scientific expertise that will benefit future scientific activities at both venues.
