       Anna University                                  

  Anna University was established on September 4. 1978 as a unitary type of University. It offers higher education in Engineering, Technology and allied sciences relavent to the current and projected needs of the society. Besides promoting research and disseminating knowledge gained there from, it fosters co-operation between the academic and industrial communities.
         The University has 7 Faculties, 15 Departments, 4 Schools , 16 Centres, 3 institutes and 16 Central Facilities to provide specialized services to students to enrich their knowledge and learning experience. This University offers 33 undergraduate and 57 Postgraduate programs besides 5 postgraduate diploma and 4 M.Phil programs. Facilities are available for doing M.S by research and the Ph.D programs in all the faculties.
          In addition to the academic programs, the University offers, continuing education programs such as short term courses, evening programs, summer and winter schools, and organizes seminars ans symposia on topics of current interest conforming to the needs of national development activities.
          The University has been exerting a major trust in establishing Industry Institute collaboration through consultancy services, sponsored research, training programmes and testing activities. Research in emerging areas of national priority is undertaken.
