Background

I am a first year postgraduate researcher at Newcastle University, working on the development of rigorous indicators of corneal epithelial health, tools for the diagnosis of limbal stem cell deficiency (LSCD) and mathematical models to establish a better understanding of the mechanisms involved in recovery following limbal stem cell transplants. As an interdisciplinary project, I am working alongside consultant opthalmologist Professor Francisco Figueiredo and Professor of stem cell science Majilinda Lako, under the supervision of Dr Laura Wadkin and Professor Anvar Shukurov.

I previously completed my undergraduate degree at Newcastle University, during which I undertook a year-long placement at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. In my two years at the Trust I was fortunate to work across a number of different teams within the department, gaining experience in data analytics and presentation (including report writing and dashboard development) as well as data integration, helping manage Data Warehouses, test interfaces between clinical systems as well as developing a number of Data Quality processes within the department. For the final portion of my placement, and beyond, I worked on the automation of many manual processes developed in RPA packages UiPath and OpenRPA.

I am also an avid rock climber and lover of the outdoors.
