I couldn't find inspiration for this show, and was going to use W.S. Gilbert's drawings again. I then had this idea of blackboards, as the show was set in a university... I'd recently bought a fairly cheap graphics tablet that came with a lovely drawing programme (ArtRage) that had a really nice 'blackboard and chalk' setting. So, making a paletter based on the colours in my daughter's set of chalks, I set off to draw characters from the show quickly, in a naive style, without touching up. After assembling them into a poster, I realised that I'd need to hand-write the letter, which took bloody ages! After lots of cutting, rotating and so on, I finally put it all together - in some ways a return to the same techniques I used in 1990! My Dad thought it was the best poster I've ever done!
