PostDoc: scouting for Humboldt research fellowship

I am a Henriette Herz Scout for the Humboldt Foundation, so if you are interested in being hosted in my group in Bielefeld for a postdoctoral Humboldt Research Fellowship and belong to an underrepresented group, please get in touch.

PhD studentships

Funded positions. I currently have two open PhD positions, with a starting date as early as April 2026, with the potential to be filled later e.g. from September/October 2026.

PhD position focused on theoretical cosmology The PhD project is part of the Collaborative Research Center CRC-TRR 211 “Strong-Interaction Matter under Extreme Conditions”. As a CRC member, you will work on the theoretical developments to determine the QCD imprint on the primordial black hole production. You will work on new techniques to enable calculations beyond a constant collapse threshold, thereby accounting for the cosmic trajectory in the early universe and making predictions for merger rates that can be confronted with astrophysical observations. Deadline: January 25, 2026. Reference letters should ideally be uploaded to the file-drop https://uni-bielefeld.sciebo.de/s/7zmdS6Mrjg9s5LF. Please tell your references to use the file name format: LastNameCandidate_FirstNameCandidate_LastNameReference.pdf.

PhD position focused on cosmology with galaxy and radio surveys. The PhD project focuses on galaxy clustering and weak lensing probed by galaxy and radio surveys such as Euclid and SKA. You will work on developing methods to extract cosmological and astrophysical parameters from beyond two-point statistics. You will incorporate new physical effects into existing theoretical methods and include systematics relevant for observational data, validate predictions with simulated data and perform data analysis of mock and real galaxy survey data.

External Fellowships. Please get in touch if you’d be interested in applying for individual funding (e.g. from the German Scholarship Foundation = Studienstiftung, DAAD or similar) to work in my group.
