"Situated alongside 5 artworks from the Hatton Gallery collection including Kurt Schwitters' Merz Barn Wall are new and existing artworks by 12 artists and studio staff from the Fine Art Department. The collective works highlight important pedagogies in practice-based learning, not least the agency of artist-teachers.
Critic Isabelle Graw has suggested that painting has long since moved beyond a 'medium specificity'. Study for a Painting (Exhibition) invites a reflexive conversation around the conventions, definitions and limitations of what painting is and can be, offering paintings that both follow and break convention in their use of traditional medium and form, presented alongside practices which integrate a range of materials and techniques, blurring the boundaries between painting and other art forms.
As an experimental model and literal 'study for a painting' exhibition, the curatorial process prioritises speculative juxtapositions between artworks, informing surprising connections between practices and media."

| " The panoramic spectrum of more than 30 artists included in this exhibition create artworks across almost every medium and method, but share one common denominator. Their works recall the writer Lewis Hyde’s idea that “a work of art is a gift, not a commodity ... where there is no gift there is no art”. As Hyde has also noted, quoting Joseph Conrad, “the artist appeals to that part of our being ... which [recognises it as] a gift and not an acquisition – and, therefore, [is] more permanently enduring.” |

Two related interations of Paper, Table, Wall & After took place, first at Gallery North, Newcastle in December 2014 and second at the university gallery of NTUA, Taipei in December 2015. For the second exhibition artists were invited to make works on paper capable of being folded to the size and proportion of a standard ordnance survey map.

A selection of paintings and collages made whilst resident artist at the heritage site of Hill End, NSW, Australia in June-July 2011 formed a solo exhibition at Bathurst Regional Art Gallery. 6 works from the Haefliger series entered BRAG's extensive collection of work by artists connected to Hill End including Brett Whiteley, Russel Drysdale and Jeffrey Smart. The exhibition toured to the Jean Bellette Gallery, Hill End in June 2013.

4 site-specific works were created for the interior of the former church of St. John the Divine's, now BendInTheRiver's x-church project space. REGROUPING was a group exhibition organised by BITR of over 30 artists across 4 sites in Gainsborough, Sheffield, Nottingham and Lincoln.
